Odia artist Jagannath Panda presented his artworks at Niv Art Centre in New Delhi on Friday. Panda explained about his art works to budding artists and art lovers presented during this workshop at Niv Art Centre.

Panda explained how his recent art wroks which exhibited at Asian Art Museum in San Francisco focuses on serendipitous moments, juxtaposed locations and in some ways reflects his own observations of Gurgaon, a quickly developing suburb of New Delhi where the ancient is often overrun by new housing developments, warehouses and air-conditioned shopping malls. Here the ecosystem has little chance to keep pace, much less the networks for electricity and plumbing.

He explained characteristic of his recent paintings and sculptures is the simultaneous expression of both a unique gaze upon gods and animals as well as an examination of the confrontation between the urban and the natural.

He hailed the initiatives of Niv art centre, New Delhi for encouraging budding artists. He said that initiative of Niv art centre's in these direction to invite artists to work on projects that will see some junk materials turned out into beautiful art.

It should be noted that Jagannath Panda was born in Bhubaneswar in 1970 and received his BFA in sculpture from the BK College of Arts & Crafts, Bhubaneswar in 1991 and his MFA in sculpture from the MS University, Baroda in 1994. Subsequent studies took him to the Fukuoka University of Japan and the Royal College of Art in London, where he received an MA degree in sculpture in 2002. His art recently appeared at Nature Morte in New Delhi and Berlin, Chemould Prescott Road in Mumbai, and Alexia Goethe Gallery in London. Group exhibitions include Indian Highway IV at the Lyons Museum of Contemporary Art, France, Indian Highway V at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, Transformation at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Chalo! India at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, Where in the World at the Devi Art Foundation in Gurgaon, and Midnight's Children at Studio la Citta in Verona, Italy, among many others.
