Artist - Chaitali Mukherjee
Chaitali Mukherjee, born in Kolkata, completed her education in art from Govt. College of Art &Craft, Calcutta University in 1998. Since then, she has participated in many solo and group shows in India and abroad, and carved a prominent place for herself in the world of colour and canvas.
Chaitali continues to be obsessed with the image of face with its mask. With the passage of time, she has acquired a better mastery over the means to render that image of the face. Her colours gain a new resonance and the image itself comes to acquire a new depth and intensity. The face speaks to us only through their drama. She believes that art should go beyond the individual and achieve a universal appeal.
Crossing the boundaries of the logical mind, Chaitali delineates not just the face in its natural form, but expresses the drama of its existence. “Nautanki” a series of paintings demonstrates her attempt to explore the unknown, the un-manifested in the known world around us.
