Anwar is a Pune based artist whose works can be termed as 'past-present' portraits. Works that are alchemy of the historic past with the present culture of globalisation. Hailing from the princely town of 'Miraj', the young Anwar, used to wander around the havelis and palaces absorbing the quiet grandeur of his surroundings, which later as a trained artist, inspired him to create a significant number of works on this subject. His works were views and reminders of days spent at the 'angaan' (courtyard) of the family house, or a distant view of a ganesh mandir within a courtyard or memories of listening to his grandmother's music on the gramophone all captured almost in the by gone style of sepia photography.
Anwar has had four solo shows in last five years - 'Nostagia' in 2001, 'Portraits' in 2002, 'Water Colour Works' in 2003 and ‘Goa', in 2004, besides participating in several group shows. His paintings are part of art portfolios of collectors in many countries. ...
